Our goal is the elimination of poverty housing and homelessness throughout the world, making the provision of decent shelter a matter of conscience and action

 Habitat for Humanity invites volunteers to work together in partnership with families in need  providing "a hand up -- not a hand out".

The Prince Edward-Hastings Habitat for Humanity affiliate has built 12 homes helping 13 families and is an independent, not for profit Christian housing program dedicated to the elimination of poverty housing by building homes in partnership with families in need.

Homeowners contribute hundreds of hours of "sweat equity" to the construction of their own homes and then repay a long-term, no-interest mortgage.

Internationally, Habitat has built more than 500,000 homes in over 80 countries around the world.
