From the Desk of Hazzem Koudsi, CEO of Habitat for Humanity Prince Edward-Hastings.
It’s official: on September 9th, 2025, the former Belleville Police Station at 93 Dundas Street East will be demolished! We are thrilled to share the confirmed date of this ceremonious occasion. The whole team at Habitat PEH and I are bursting with exuberance alongside the community in anticipation of this date, knowing this action will create a domino effect.
But what’s truly exciting isn’t what’s coming down—it’s what’s about to rise in its place. A 66-unit affordable condominium development—Habitat Village—is about to take shape, and with it, a bold new vision for inclusive, community-driven homeownership in our region.
Habitat Village will offer a mix of one-, two-, and three-bedroom units, thoughtfully designed with sustainability, and community at its core. With plans for a community centre, daycare, and shared green spaces, this development will be a place where families can grow, connect, and thrive.
As we prepare to kick off the demolition, I invite you to imagine what this site will look like in just a few years: children playing in shared green spaces, neighbours connecting over coffee (or a blizzard), families building lives rooted in security and belonging. Occupancy is expected in spring 2028, but the impact begins now. You can support our build by visiting HabitatPEH.org and donating to the fund that will bring this project to life. It’s not just a building; it’s lives and a community you will be supporting.
We are proud to be leading this effort, but we are not doing it alone. This milestone is the result of tireless collaboration—with the City of Belleville, our donors, volunteers, and every supporter who believes in the power of home.
On demolition day, September 9th, we invite you to join us on-site for a brief ceremony to mark this powerful transition. It’s not just the end of an era—it’s the beginning of a new one.
