The Power of Giving Back

From the Desk of Hazzem Koudsi, CEO of Habitat for Humanity Prince Edward-Hastings.

From our ReStore warehouse to building sites, volunteers have always had a special place at the heart of Habitat for Humanity Prince Edward-Hastings. Over the pandemic, we lost our volunteer base, as did thousands of small organizations across Canada. Now we’re ready to welcome them back but many have been reluctant to return.

We have many volunteer positions to offer. Do you enjoy active, physical work or looking for a way to complete your student volunteer hours? Maybe you like being social, finding connection, being handy and exploring local hardware stores? If yes, sign up to become a ReStore volunteer at 365 Bell Boulevard!

From assisting our driver with picking up donations across Quinte or helping in the warehouse with receiving, sorting, recycling and repairing, there’s a place for you. We also have volunteer positions in the retail space assisting with greeting, cashier support and merchandising.

When you help out at a Habitat ReStore, you help your community. ReStore proceeds cover a portion of Habitat PEH’s operating costs, so your contributions go directly towards building affordable homes.

Charities are the backbone of a healthy community and volunteering is the backbone of those charities. We can all make a difference if we try. To learn more and get involved, with us or for any deserving local group, visit Volunteer and Information of Hastings and Prince Edward Counties www.viq.ca. By giving to others you’ll get so much back yourself. Try it and see- the life you change will be your own.

Sincerely,

Hazzem Koudsi
